Eligibility Requirements
Students applying for the scholarship must:
All majors allowed.
Finalists will be invited to interview with the Scholarship Committee.
Scholarship recipients may reapply annually.
- Be of Hispanic heritage
- Be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with a permanent resident card or passport stamped I-551 (not expired)
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 on a 4.00 scale.
- Be enrolled or plan to enroll full-time as a trade/technical school, undergrad, or graduate student at an accredited post-secondary institution in the United States.
- Be any of the following:
- High School Seniors
- Trade School / Technical School Students
- Community College Students
- Community College Transfer Students
- Undergraduate Students
- Graduate Students
- Apply for federal financial aid using the Free Applications for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
- Demonstrate financial need
- Submit statement of financial need
- Exhibit leadership ability and participate in community service activities
- Submit a personal statement essay including:
- Explain your career aspirations and your educational plan to meet these goals.
- Explain how you have helped your family or made your community a better place to live. Please provide specific examples.
- Describe a personal accomplishment and the strengths and skills you used to achieve it.
- Describe a challenge or obstacle you faced in the last ten years. What did you learn about yourself from this experience?
- Discuss how you will positively impact your community upon completion of your academic career.
- Submit a resume with the application
- Submit 3 letters of recommendation; at least one academic and one personal
- Submit SAT and/or ACT scores (high school seniors only)
- Be of good moral character
